Don't pretend other people's opinions matter
You do not care what I think. That is the way it should be. Many people seem informed and possessing of well-thought out opinions, when in fact they are merely repeating something they read online. Oh well. That is OK as long as you attribute your source. If you repeat some guy's posting, or a news article, and pass it off as your own opinion, that makes you a liar. Oral plagarism. ick. When I repeat a joke I heard on a George Carlin HBO special, I preface it with, "Did you hear what George Carlin said about big corporations?" Years ago I repeated what he said about how golf is a racist, elitist, mysognyst sport and the guy next to me asked, "you know where that's from, right?" and I felt stupid. So now I try to not do that.
